Bosnia
The dog tags which were never removed while I was in Bosnia. This was a shock to the system following contracts in Singapore and Jamaica. The reverse side asked for freedom of movement and all necessary privedges in Croatian, Serbo-Croat and Russian as well as English. This was my first experience relying totally on an interpreter.
Singapore

Thaipusam in Singapore
Singapore's Thaipusam is a Hindu festival of thanksgiving celebrated in honour of Lord Subrahmanya (also known as Lord Murugan) who represents virtue, youth and power and is the destroyer of evil. Hundreds of participants fulfill a vow and must ritually cleanse themselves before the four kilometer march between temples. Despite the pins, hooks, etc. no blood is drawn. Thaipusam is a very impressive celebration. Being on City Council may be hard, but not, I think, this hard.
