Many of you may remember one or both of the two talks given in Nanaimo in 2004 by Dr. Heywood Sanders, North America's leading expert on Conference/Convention Centres.  He has recently written an article in the Georgia Straight about the Vancouver Centre which many may find of interest.  I look backward at many of similarities with the stories surrounding the development of Nanaimo's Centre and look forward to the release of some useful information on the return which we are receiving from our "investment".

Promotion of these conference centers sounds like a North American wide scam. How is it that all these cities seem to fall for the same line?

It would be great if someone were to do an investigative piece of journalism regarding the PNAC or for that matter Millennium. How about it Ron? Surely this website doesn't employ all your time.

Hi Eric:

If you want to read about conference centres in North America, read the Appendix in: Nanaimo between Past and Future: Critical Perspectives on Growth, Planning and the New Nanaimo Centre, edited by Eric Ricker and published by the Friends of Plan Nanaimo Society in Nanaimo in 2005. The library has one or more copies.
